Isaiah 55:10-11

8 09 2008

10 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the spwer and bread to the eater,

11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth; it shall not return to me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

The two verses bring out the power and the purpose of the Word of God. The ability to accomplish it’s goals. It also encourages me that when we give out the Word of God, we can be sure there would be fruit. If not now, then later. The Word of the Lord will accomplish that which pleases our Lord, not us. So remember when you read the Word of God, let it rain on your soul. Then you will see your life flourish as it brings forth and bud.

1 John 2:15-17

1 09 2008

15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father but is of the world.

17 The world passeth away and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

The life of Samson is a good example of one who was consumed by the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life. In Judges 13-16, we will notice the repeated use of the word “saw” “looked” “eyes” and his downfall. He was blind to God’s plan and purposes. But when he lost his sight (the Philistines took out his eyes) then he gained spiritual insight like never before.

We have to becareful with our eyes and what we see. Our eyes can lead to our down fall – “The lust of the eyes” It all starts with a look. Guard your eyes. Just imagine the ammount of temptation that would be reduced if you cannot see?

Think about it.

Heaven vs Earth

7 02 2007

Welcome to The Living Word where we desire to share The Word of God and quotations from meditations on The Living Word.

Today’s quotation is taken from Mr Wong Fook Meng of Melaka.

“Heaven is often eclipsed by earth side pleasures and allurements.

That’s why Adam and Eve traded the Garden of Eden for a piece of fruit,

Esau traded his birthright for a bowl of soup,

Samson traded his calling for a moment’s pleasure and

Judas traded his Saviour for a few pieces of coins.

Let us have the wisdom of never crossing the line of our loyalty to our Saviour for some temporal pleasures and gain.”
